Freedom

Freedom.

I have dreamed of you since the time

I could dream

I have loved you, ever since I climbed

Out of my mother’s lap

Freedom

I have made love, oh such sweet love to you

On deserted city streets

And crowded forest roads

Freedom

One evening at church, the priest screamed

So many open doors

But you still feel trapped

As if he was speaking to me

Freedom

I have been held captive for long

For you have been my only love

I have searched you

In art and literature

In wars and weddings

Freedom

It’s time come take me

Embrace me now

I am done waiting for you

Running towards you

Away from shackles of the mind

Away from fear, that renders me blind

Freedom

For I have loved you so,

The world I have let go
